DV Lottery for Sri Lanka.
DV Visa lottery program allows Sri Lanka born people to apply for the program even if they are living abroad. Holding another passport or citizenship is also not a problem to participate in the DV-2013 DV lottery program. This is a simple program but it is covered with strict rules. One person can apply only one entry as primary applicant with his name in any given year. As Sri Lanka born people are eligible to participate in this DV Lottery program, the US visa lottery program may allow 500 - 900 visas to Sri Lanka born people out of the 50,000 PR visas which are going to be issued worldwide.
Sri Lanka born people can apply themselves or can use an agent like "BBS Netting" to apply for them to participate and check their lucky. We recommend you to apply through the companies as they too will have your confirmation number and they too will check your selection status. In the year 2011 plenty people had lost their DV-2012 confirmation number and now they can't check their results online. This is the only mean to check the DV-2012 online results, so these people are out of the dv2012 visa lottery program.
So saving a small amount, some time may cost your winning.
According to the US embassy in Sri Lanka, those Sri Lankan people who want to participate (living abroad too can send their entries through
E-DV) must have Six passes in the GCE examination including the compulsory subjects or must have 2 years of work experience within the last five years in a profession that requires at lest two years of training or experience to perform it. The Department of State Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky, WILL NOT NOTIFIES the lottery winners by mail as before between May and July. All the winners must proof their eligibility to the US consular office by paying a non refundable visa fee of US$ 819 for the main applicant and this diversity visa fees should be paid to all his/her dependants too, on the day of their visa interview.
