What is EDV application form?
From the beginning the diversity visa lottery was accepting the dv application form from applicants in the paper with the photos and with the applicant's signature.
In the year 2003 it was totally changed to electronic application form for the DV 2005 and was called EDV application form.
The EDV is still continuing each year and it is very easy to send and get the confirmation where in the old method of paper applications getting the confirmation was not possible. And the applicants were in total blackout whether their application forms reached the KCC or not.
The EDV is a web based application system where an applicant can apply for the diversity visa lottery in the given 60 day’s period each year. The other days the web site will be closed for accepting entries for the lottery.
In the application accepting period,
An applicant can use an internet connected computer to download the EDV application form by going to the State Department's one and only web site.
The form will be active for 60 minutes only.
If it took more than 60 minutes to fill the form then a new form should be downloaded and filled.
He must fill all the required fields and upload his digital image along with the EDV form.
If the form is not completely filled, it will not be accepted and will be shown back with the red high lights.
The applicant can try it as much time as he gets the electronic confirmation with his name date of birth and country of birth on screen.
This information can be made as a printout.
A person can enter only one application and if more than one is submitted all the entries will be disqualified with out notice.
The State department uses many sophisticated methods to find out the fraud persons.
The EDV is a computer managed program and it does perfect job rather than human. It handles millions of EDV applications each year from the year it was introduced.
Those who use visa agents or other services must make sure that the dv lottery result will be notified to their own mail address if they are winners. And decide the application fees as there are many instances those agents intercepted the winning notifications and claimed money from the legitimate winners.
