From the beginning, the diversity visa lottery which is also called as Green card lottery was accepting the dv application form from applicants in the paper entry with their photos and with the applicant's signature.

In the year 2003 it was totally changed to electronic application form for the DV 2005 and was called E-DV application form.

The E-DV is still continuing each year and it is very easy to send and get the confirmation where in the old method of paper applications getting the confirmation was impossible. And the applicants were in total blackout whether their application forms reached the KCC or not.

The E-DV is a web based application system where an applicant can apply for the diversity visa lottery in the given 60 day’s period each year. The other days the web site will be closed for accepting entries for the lottery.

In the application accepting period, applicant can use an internet connected computer to download the E-DV application form by going to the State Department's one and only web site.

The form will be available as an active one for 60 minutes only.

If it took more than 60 minutes to fill the form then a new form should be downloaded and filled.

Applicants must fill all the required fields and upload his digital image along with the E-DV form.

If the form is not completely filled, it will not be accepted and will be shown back with the red colored high lights.

The applicant can try it as much time till he gets the electronic confirmation with his name year of birth on screen.

This information can be made as a printout.

A person can enter only one application form and if more than one entry is submitted all the entries will be disqualified with out any notice to the applicant.

The State department uses many sophisticated methods to find out persons who are trying to fraud the system

The E-DV is a computer managed program and it does perfect job rather than human. It handles millions of E-DV applications each year from the year it was introduced.

Those who use visa agents or other services must make sure that the dv lottery result will be notified to their own mail address if they are winners. And decide the application fees as there are many instances those agents intercepted the winning notifications and claimed money from the legitimate winners.
