Warning for Sri Lankans regarding DV lottery 2009.

This week US Embassy in Sri Lanka has warned to be vigilant of US Green Card visa lottery scams.
Embassy officials said that they are unable to prosecute persons connected to bogus USA DV Lottery web sites as some of the web servers are located outside US jursdiction.

Christopher Green, the Consul of the US embassy in Colombo said that applying to this visa is free and a person can apply only one entry as primary applicant. 50,000 applicants were chosen worldwide last year, where are 318 have been Sri Lankan applicants.

Green says over 10 million applicants apply for the DV lottery each year which allow the selected visa winners can enter USA as legal immigrants. This status entitles them to social benefits and employment schemes US citizens enjoy.

This is good chance for people who were unable to immigrate through family ties or work sponsorships, the DV Lottery 2009 gives the opportunity to qualify as legal US immigrants.
