DV 2009 Visa Lottery Program.
DV 2009 visa lottery application form providing facility was officially closed on 2nd December 2007 after accepting entries for 60 days. Nearly 9.1 million People submitted their entries online from all over the world for this American visa lottery program for the fiscal year 2009. From these submitted entries around 99,600 applicants were selected by the computer random selection as winners and were registered and were notified by regular postal mail with further instructions on how to proceed with the immigrant visa application.
50,000 America visas were offered under the DV2009 visa lottery program, and more than that number had been selected and were informed from May 2008 to July 2008 as DV 2009 results by regular postal mail to the applicant’s given address as in the online entry form. Email, Fax or Telephone were not used to announce the winners.
Second letters were sent to winners according to their case number order.
Applicants were requested to pay the non refundable visa fee and the diversity processing fee of US$ 755 or equivalent in local currency personally on the day of the interview personally at the embassy or consulate and were given with the official receipt. (Don't use other means like bank drafts or money transfer agencies to pay for the US visa..)
If they had spouse and children they were requested to pay for them too US$755 each.
The DV 2009 visa interviews were started on 1st of October 2008 and the program was closed on midnight 30th September 2009. Also the selected winners living in the U.S.A was asked to contact the USCIS office to change their status when their case numbers were current.
No one can benefit from the selection of the DV 2009 lottery after midnight 30th September 2009.
The next visa lottery will be DV 2012, where people can submit their application forms online in 2010.
If you were issued with a diversity visa you must use it within the given period. Normally 6 months.
If you are refused of visa, your visa fee will not be returned.
