DV 2010 Visa lottery accepting entry is over.

DV 2010 which is the official program operated by the American Government to issue 50,000 permanent residency visas (Green card) to people from the countries with low immigration through a computer random draw. Those who are selected for the program will get a chance to apply for the Permanent Visa by paying a non refundable visa fee and diversity processing fee. Normally the fee will be U.S$ 755 or equivalent to local currency.

American Green Card lottery DV2010 started on 2nd October 2008 and closed on 1st December 2008. The EDV online entries were accepted for a period of 60 days. Take note there is one and only US Government web site which will accept entries to the Diversity visa Lottery 2011 along with the applicant image file. If the form is not duly filled or correct size photo is not submitted the entry will not be accepted.

To apply,
You must be from an eligible country as per the U.S. State Department. You must have successfully completed 12 years of education including primary and high school or 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years after studying/training 2 years to perform it. The accepted job list is available in the DOL web site of the American Government.
Married person must include spouse and all the children of theirs who are unmarried and under the age of 21. Those children, who are already US citizen or PR holders shouldn’t not be included. Failure to submit the information of spouse and eligible children will result in disqualification from the lottery program.

Winners who are selected by the computer random draw will be notified with further instructions and visa fees between the month of May and July by regular postal mail to the addresses submitted by them with the entries.

Visas will be issued from October 01, 2009 till 30th September 2010 after interview which will be notified by the second letter. The visas should be used within 6 months to enter the U.S.A.

Applicants can apply themselves for the lottery or can use agents, Immigration lawyers, law offices. But all the entries have the equal chance of getting picked up by the computer random draw.

A person can apply only one entry to the lottery with his/her name as primary applicant. If more than one entry is submitted with a person name, all entries will be rejected with out notice regardless of who submitted them.

A married couple “If both meet the eligibility requirements, can enter 2 entries by entering one entry on each person name as primary applicant and entering the other as spouse. Who ever win, both can immigrate to America under the DV-2010 program.
