Bangladesh DV Lottery Information.

Bangladesh used to receive top number of DV lottery winners in the Asia region every year for the US DV Lottery program as they has sent less than 50,000 people to the USA within the last 5 years. In the recent past plenty of Bangladesh born people got the diversity visa and entered in to the USA as legal immigrants under this DV Lottery program.

The lottery program is covered by simple but strict rules which the applicants must follow to apply for the DV lottery and to proceed with the winning. Failure not only will result in the Visa refusal but also your visa fees too will be lost If you happened to produce fake documents and was found, then you will be banned for life from getting an American visa.

Bangladesh born people are allowed to apply for the diversity visa lottery as their country is in the eligible country list, even if they are living abroad too can apply.

To apply for the US green card visa lottery program,
1. The applicant must have successfully completed High School education (the equivalent of graduating from a U.S. high school) or two years of qualifying work experience within the last 5years after studying/training to perform that job at the time of applying for the DV entry.. For this the U.S. Department of Labor sets the standards for the work qualifications.

2. Must be more than 18 years of age. Age level comes according to the education level to be met.

3. Married person must include details and separate photos of spouse and all the eligible children who are unmarried and under the age of 21 regardless of they are immigrating or not with the applicant. Failure to enter them will disqualify you from the lottery.

The application form ED-V entry can be downloaded in the application period of 60 days from the American Government's official web site and to be filled and submitted within the given 60 minutes time period. If not filled properly or the given time is passed out, the form will not be accepted, you can refill and submit it till you get the confirmation in the computer screen.

The winners will be selected by the computer random draw and those selected winners will be notified around May to July by the KCC by regular postal mail to their addresses which the applicants had already submitted. The notification will contain further instruction and detail of the related visa fees. Winners who are in USA may contact the USICS office to change their status to LPR, if they are staying there legally.

On the day of the interview selected winners must pay a non refundable dv processing + visa fee of 800 US$ or equivalent in Bangladesh currency to the U.S Embassy only. If the visa is refused for any given reason the visa fees will not be refunded.

Second letter will be sent to winners according to their case number and interviews will start in October and eligible people will get the visa after the interview.

You will need your original High School certificate.

You will need a sponsor from an American citizen or LPR holder in America.

You have to do medical examination at a place recommended by the embassy.

Also you must obtain Police clearance according to the instruction of the Embassy.

Also according to the Dhaka Embassy "If you are married at the time of your DV interview, your spouse must accompany you to your interview regardless of whether or not he/she will apply for a visa. You should also be prepared to submit evidence of your marital relationship (e.g. nikah nama or wedding certificate with English translation, wedding photos, etc.) at the time of your interview."

The Dhaka US Embassy also has informed that "As an anti-fraud measure, Diversity Visa interviews will not be rescheduled. If an interview-eligible Diversity Visa applicant does not appear at the scheduled date and time, the applicant's Diversity Visa eligibility will be terminated".

Also don't submit false documents or don't do scam marriages to obtain visa. They will be dealt seriously. You will loose visa, visa fees and will be banned for life from obtaining a visa.

When you are applying for the lottery through a "visa agent" don't forget to include your own address other wise he may demand you money or can give the winning notification for other people illegally.

More than 1.7 million applications were submitted by Bangladesh born people in the year 2006 for the DV Lottery 2008 and around 5,983 people were selected as winners. Take note that no country can get more than 7% of the totally available visa. It means 3,500 people will be given with the US immigrant visa if they are found eligible at the time of the dv lottery interview.
